5/5 Stayed Mar 2019
We spent a week at Red Rock with our two daughters and their families (4 grandchildren, 3 9-year-olds and one 6-year-old). The house was very clean and well equipped, and the views obviously amazing. The pool/spa was in constant use by the kids, especially after our daily hikes. We were especially pleased with the location in Oak Creek as Sedona proper was extremely crowded (school vacation week) and not that appealing. Yet we were close enough to town, if you wanted to spend time there, and many hikes were within a 30 minute drive or less. With so many people and such a nice kitchen, we did not end up eating out at all, so can’t recommend any restaurants. We did take a day trip to the Grand Canyon which is just over two hours away. We’d highly recommend a longer route there through Cameron and then along the South Rim heading west. Then several miles before the Village area (which was incredibly crowded/busy), is a one mile trail out to Shoshone Point. This has a spectacular view with the Canyon on three sides and very few people. There is no sign on the road, so look it up in travel guides or hiking apps. I’ve been to the Canyon four times since I was young and this was by far the best experience I’ve had; other than hiking down, can’t imagine anything better.
Lori and Matt were very responsive to the few inquiries that we had. We wouldn’t hesitate to visit again or recommend Red Rock Retreat to friends.
